Parents and Coaches...
If you read only one of my blogs this year, LET IT BE THIS ONE.
We need to STOP being tripped up by our athlete's mistakes.
Mistakes are NOT the enemy.
And I get it...
As a 2X Olympic Coach, I used to get tripped up all the time; ANGRY, YELLING, GUILTING, LECTURING.
And what difference did that TRIPPING UP make to the athlete's performance?
NONE. ZERO. ZIP.
Now, as a Mental Toughness Coach, I know that mistakes are not only part of the process, they ARE REQUIRED.
Your athlete CAN'T reach their full potential, they can't stretch and grow unless they get UNCOMFORTABLE.
And when they have the COURAGE to do that, mistakes are INEVITABLE.
So, we must PAY ATTENTION to our words, our reactions, our non-verbal body language.
Your athlete watches and listens ALL the time, even though they pretend not to.
THEY CANNOT MOVE PAST THEIR MISTAKES UNLESS YOU DO.
It's time to STOP tripping on that laundry and put it away, where it belongs.
I've been in the middle of that pile before, and I can help. My website has everything you need.
