Fear can be paralyzing.
I'm a Mental Toughness Coach and here's a text from an athlete I'm working with: "I'm worried about tryouts tomorrow. I know I've gotten better but I don't want to disappoint the coaches and not be as good as they think. I don't really want to go to the tryouts because of the pressure I'm putting on myself."
Fear causes us to hide, avoid, play it safe.
What can we do with the fear?
No sense avoiding it; doesn't make it go away.
How about face it?
How about taking Brene Brown's advice and showing up brave AND afraid?
Fear is normal. We don't need to get rid of it.
We can learn to manage it.
We can choose to show up for that tryout, even though we are nervous about the outcome.
Show up brave AND afraid.
That's what your Greatest Self would do.
