ATTENTION PARENTS

Sport is a series of storms; most of them are emotional.

Your athlete is stuck right in the middle of it full of
nerves, pressure, anger, disappointment, and lack of confidence.

Join for only $49/month
or $449/year.

Charged in Canadian dollars.

You see your athlete in the storm,
and it has you feeling:

WORRIED

   CONFUSED

FRUSTRATED

OVERWHELMED

And I know you've tried it all...

Being tough on them.

Bribing them.

Being positive and encouraging.

Joining ALL the FB groups.

Investing $$$ in private coaching.

Books and podcasts.

...And all of this has left you feeling even more disconnected from your athlete.

IT'S TIME TO CALM THE STORM.

MEET YOUR 2X OLYMPIAN AND MENTAL TOUGHNESS COACH

Hi, my name is Shawnee.

I help athletes manage storms because sport is full of them; and most are emotional.

The storm is coming whether we want it or not. Mental Toughness is about managing thoughts, feelings and emotions.

Imagine how your athlete would perform if they knew what to do with nerves, pressure, anger, disappointment, and lack of confidence.

Imagine what a difference it would make if they knew how to CALM THE STORM.

I work with athletes of all ages and sports, from novices to experts. And because it takes a village, I also work with their parents and coaches.

Being physically prepared for sport isn't enough.  Being technically and tactically prepared isn't enough.  Being skilled ISN'T enough!

At the Olympics, I got stuck in the emotional storm.

THE HARSH REALITY

Some may say I made it after going to the Olympics as a coach, not once, but twice. It's arguably the highest level of competition, on the biggest stage, and an event that most only dream of.

But it wasn't the dream I was hoping for. Our team left empty handed. Twice.

Why? Because the emotional storms beat us.  Fear won. Nerves won. Self-doubt won.

Think about it ...

If you do everything you can to physically prepare, but you haven't trained your mind...you can easily be thrown off course when things go wrong.

If your mind can't handle the pressure, it doesn't matter how many hours you've spent training your body.

Without Mental Toughness, count yourself OUT when things get hard and uncomfortable.

Mental Toughness is the answer your athlete needs:

Handle Pressure: Stay composed when it matters most.

Maintain Confidence: Overcome self-doubt.

Bounce Back From Mistakes: Quickly recover when things go wrong.

Overcome Adversity: handle failure, irritating teammates, negative coaching, sitting on the bench, being overlooked for All-Star Teams.

Regulate Emotions: Handle the ups and downs of competition.

Give Your Kids the Best Sports Experience Possible!

Sport is a series of emotional storms, and your athlete is getting pounded by the thunder and lightning.

They don't know how to manage these storms and it leaves them feeling frustrated, confused, and let down.

Give your athlete the mental toolkit they need to excel!

Laura, Sports Mom

Working with Shawnee transformed how I communicate with my kids. I struggled to deliver my message effectively, often feeling like I was coming on too strong. Shawnee helped me see that while my intentions were good, my delivery needed work.

Now, thanks to Shawnee's guidance, we all have a toolkit to use. We speak the same language, I ask better questions, and I understand how to manage my own fears. This has made a huge difference in how we interact and support each other.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is Mental Toughness?
Mental Toughness includes the following: 1) Emotional Intelligence: sport teaches us NOT to listen to our thoughts and feelings (except the good ones). But what should your athlete do with the negative thoughts, the anxious and nervous feelings? What about the voice of self-doubt? Emotional Intelligence means your athlete acknowledges, understands and manages their thoughts and feelings. 2) Courage: It's different than confidence. Confidence is an emotion, based on results. Courage is an action; it's a choice. Your athlete can choose to do something courageous even when they lack confidence. Sport is a series of storms, and most of them are emotional. Emotional Intelligence + Courage will help your athlete manage the thunder and lightning and save themselves from the storms that sport (and life) always bring.
  • How does Gold Medal Team work?
It's a private Facebook group where parents gather to gain Mental Toughness knowledge and tips to support their athlete's journey. You can post your questions, comments, and concerns any time you want. Shawnee responds within 24 hours. You can also ask/receive support from the community in Gold Medal Team. You can chat with Shawnee live, once a month via Zoom. Bring your athlete!
  • What questions can I ask Shawnee?
Here are examples of questions that parents ask: How do I help my kids: Compete harder and play with more confidence? Handle pressure? Handle a coach that yells, lectures, and punishes? Handle sitting on the bench? Handle mistakes, setbacks, and failures? Handle irritating teammates? How do I handle the stress I feel when I'm watching my kids compete? What should I say/not say in the car ride home? What should I say/not say before an important game or competition? What should I say/not say when I see my kids struggling? The goal is to equip you to support your athlete along their journey. Shawnee is here to help and support, and is open to all your questions.
  • When are the Zoom calls?
Zoom calls are the last Sunday of each month at 5:30 pm PST/8:30 pm EST. Calls are scheduled for 60 minutes but Shawnee stays on the call until everyone's questions have been answered and their problems have been solved. Calls sometimes last over 1.5 hours (there are lots of problems to be solved) but you are free to come and go as you please. You can find the Zoom details and the link in the private Facebook group.
  • How do the calls work?
Calls are 60 minutes and I spend the first half with your athlete because they tell me things they won't say when you are listening. I spend the second half with you (I get to coach you too!). We debrief and I offer suggestions that will help you support your athlete. After each call, your athlete will have "homework". I will help them build their toolkit and give them one Mental Toughness tool to use and sharpen before our next call. You can book calls anytime you want, as long as you use all of them within 3 months. If you by the package of 6, use all of them within 6 months. Why? Momentum is IMPORTANT.
  • I have more than one athlete. Can I share the calls?
YES! When you purchase a package of 6 calls, you can share them any way you want. The package of 3 is for one athlete.
  • How far in advance must I book calls?
If you book 7 days in advance, you almost always get the day/time you want. Openings frequently pop up so you might even be able to book the day of or the following day. I purposely have evenings and weekends open to suit your busy schedule. In other words, I'M AVAILABLE at a day/time that suits you. And if your call is urgent, I guarantee I will fit you in.
  • How old does my athlete need to be for 1:1 Coaching?
My youngest client is a 7 year old hockey player and my oldest client is a 50 year old pickle ball player. I work with athletes of all ages, from all sports. PS: Young athletes are far more capable than you think. I have LOTS of experience helping them handle their storms.
  • Do you offer yearly coaching?
I don’t offer yearly coaching. My goal is to help athletes build a toolkit that allows them to be independent. If I’m doing my job right, they will know how to manage and calm the storms. On the biggest day, the biggest stage of their lives, there will be no one there to save them. That's why they need to learn to SAVE THEMSELVES.
  • Can I purchase 1 call?
I don’t offer single-session calls. One conversation isn’t enough to create lasting change; it's like cramming for an exam the night before. To truly serve your athlete, a minimum of 3 calls it required. That allows us to dive deep, fill your athlete's toolkit, and create real change.

Change doesn't take TIME.
It takes courageous ACTION.

Inside every athlete is a BETTER one.

BETTER one.
